There are just four days left of 2021. What seemed like a long year has quickly come to a close, and it’s time for us to wrap up the year by looking back at some of the best industry content in 2021.

Every week, industry leaders, non-profits, academic institutions, trade publications, general media, and agencies release great information and resources for the public safety industry, but there’s no way to consume all of the great content (I’ve tried). We decided to compile a list of the best content from Mark43 and our partners so you can make sure you don’t miss out.

Here are our top four pieces of public safety news, stories, updates, and more that you shouldn’t miss from 2021.

How They Did It – Modernizing Police Reporting with the San Antonio Police Department

With residents demanding more transparency and responsiveness, many police departments are considering new digital tools to provide better services and operate more efficiently. However, these new tools leave agencies with several questions to address, like:

  • What problems do these new tools actually solve?
  • How do they get implemented?
  • What are the results?

In this webinar, Deputy Chief Karen Falks shares the challenges the San Antonio Police Department faced and the innovative solutions they adopted to save officers and residents time. Hear how San Antonio did it, and apply their lessons learned to your own organization.

Women In Blue Documentary

This powerful documentary follows three Minneapolis Police Department female police officers — Cmdr. Melissa Chiodo, Sgt. Alice Whit, and Officer Erin Grabosky — in their efforts to make the police department more ethical and diverse.

What Police Chiefs and Sheriffs Need to Know About Collecting and Analyzing Use-of-Force Data

Law enforcement use of force has been a top concern for public safety and community members alike for the last few years, and it will continue to be a top area of focus for agencies in the years ahead. Unfortunately, while collection and analysis of use of force data may feel simple to outsiders, agencies often struggle to collect and analyze the data due to lack of technology and people resources.
